MOUNIR MOUFARRIGE, the ceo of Emanuel Ungaro since 2006, has resigned from his role.

The brains behind bringing in Lindsay Lohan as artistic advisor to the house, Moufarrige will apparently continue to advise the company as a member of its strategic committee.

According to WWD, he plans to devote more time to his other businesses while Marie Fournier has been named as Ungaro’s new general manager and will oversee all operations.

Though Lohan’s artistic debut with Ungaro prompted criticism from the press during Paris Fashion Week, Moufarrige defended the starlet’s involvement last month by saying: “We’ve got a celebrity and it’s a new concept, which we’re going ahead with. [Ungaro], let’s recognise it, was a dormant brand, and now everybody’s talking about it today, so the level of awareness has improved greatly.”

Prior to being appointed general manager at Ungaro, Fournier worked as its vice president, in charge of business development and licensing.

TOPSHOP is taking over Knightsbridge. The high street emporium is set to open a huge branch of the store opposite Harrods at Easter in a bid to take advantage of the area’s prevalent tourist trade.

Sir Philip Green has agreed a deal with members of the Abu Dhabi royal family who own the premises at 70 Brompton Road. The property had been empty for several years.

Thought to be the highest profile opening for Topshop in the UK, it follows store openings in September this year at Liverpool’s Liverpool One shopping centre – the largest outside of London – and New York in April.

According to The Sunday Times, Green is expected to be looking for stores in Italy, France and Germany as well as Asia next year.
